The process is that κ-carrageenan was extracted from 麒麟菜or 红藻or original powder of half product. In the process of heating some additive was added as impregnant and regulator of viscidity. The extraction can be completed in short time and low temperature if KCl as salt-outer and alcohol as water squeezer. So high intensity and high transparence and extellence quality of κ-carrageenan could be obtained. The technique has several characters of low cost, high quality and easy to produce. In addition the products can be used as immobilized carried becase κ-carrageenan potassium was converted to sodium with HPM-type ultrafilter. The most processes of κ-carrageenan refer to the preparation of agar, for example, freezing and thawing method, precipitation by organic solvent. However mixture type carrageenan was obtained throgh these methods and the characteristics of K-type couldn't remain and the quality of product was unstable along with the variety of  material producing area and season.

   This process was designed according to characteristics of κ－carrageenan and the product , from the yield, intensity to transparency, reached the quality of the same product aboard searched by Shanghai Technology Information Institute. The quality of product accorded with the standard in 1984. The intensity of 1.5% glue can arrive at 800g/cm² 透and the transmittance to 95％. The yield can achieved 46% from 麒麟莱produced in Hainan and 70 if half finished powder was used.

    The investment of 300T/year was about $800,000 and the production value was above $3million and the ratio of profit was about 30%.

    The process was one of Shanghai Technology Committee tackle key problem and was authenticated by Shanghai Technology Committee and was applied to patent.
